Bringing Scotland's schools and food and drink
companies together.

Benefits for Schools

Through our schools work - A Future in Food we create and support long-term partnerships between schools and food and drink companies. For schools looking for support at a specific event or activity we have over 300 food and drink ambassadors from across all areas of the food chain. Our ambassadors can help at career and science events, host site visits or run classroom workshops.

Working with food and drink companies can benefit schools and pupils in the following ways:

  • Using food and drink as a context for learning
  • Support delivery of the curriculum and interdisciplinary learning
  • Lead to work placement opportunities
  • Lead to continuing professional development opportunities for teaching staff
  • Help pupils to understand how the subjects they learn at school are relevant in the real world of work
  • Help pupils understand the skills required by employers and make connections to progression routes and pathways into the industry including; courses of Further and Higher education, Apprenticeships and direct entry
  • Enable pupils to meet real people from industry and visits to industry sites
  • Establish partnerships with additional stakeholder organisations like further and higher education, research institutions.
  • Empower teachers to understand more about the food and drink industry and develop further opportunities for using food as a context for curriculum delivery through long term partnerships with industry
